MEET Alumni Website Progress
By Mona Yousry, Beyster Institute Staff

The Middle East Entrepreneur Training (MEET) Alumni website at www.meet-alumni.com is designed as a community for over 250 alumni of the MEET program. We would like each alumnus to always remember what it was like when they first got excited about the prospect of attending a MEET program, completed an application, got accepted into and then attended the program. The experience of meeting new and exciting colleagues is an integral part of the training program, and the MEET Alumni website provides the tools that will help foster these relationships and make new contacts.

The site is now available in Arabic, French, and English and is updated with new information on a regular basis. The site provides a public view and a private membership open only to MEET Alumni. Alumni have access to the Alumni Directory, which contains contact information for all MEET Alumni, making it a valuable resource for connecting or reconnecting with other members. The Member’s Area also lets alumni manage their “friends” list so they can easily keep in contact with the group of alumni they know best by posting messages to everyone they choose.

Additionally, the MEET site allows members to take part in polls and surveys. The site contains a resource bank that offers additional educational material, articles, and archives featuring content on entrepreneurship, best practices and book reviews, along with tips on employee ownership. The site's blog feature is currently being upgraded to make it an even more ‘user friendly’ communication tool. We are also looking into upgrading other features to make the alumni visits more enjoyable and useful.

Our goal is to sign up every MEET alumnus and to have them be actively using the site as part of their daily activity. We want to be able to document their feedback and the ideas to make the site better. So far about one third of the Alumni have already registered and began using the site, and several have commented, started a blog, posted in the forum or created a friends list. It is our objective to have the MEET Alumni website become the hub of activities so that the relationships are supported to the fullest extent with the most modern networking tools available. We want the hub to flourish, giving birth to new ideas, business models, marketing, and extending the reach of all members.
