The Beyster Institute at UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management Offers “FastTrac” Program to Help Entrepreneurs Drive Growth in Their Companies
August 8, 2007

Once a business has survived startup and established itself in the marketplace, careful strategic planning is vital to ensure that the venture realizes its full potential.  During this critical growth phase, entrepreneurs can benefit greatly from the development of strategic management skills and interaction with other leaders from growth-oriented companies.

This fall, the Beyster Institute at the Rady School of Management, UC San Diego, will present FastTrac® GrowthVenture™, an intensive 10-session program for entrepreneurs and business owners from established small and medium-sized companies poised for growth.  FastTrac® GrowthVenture™ assists practicing entrepreneurs in evaluating their current business framework and determining the changes needed to improve performance and grow the business.

“FastTrac® GrowthVenture™ focuses on helping entrepreneurs take a step back, look at the big picture, and work on their business, not just in their business,” says Debra Sherman, Beyster Institute director of marketing and Certified FastTrac® GrowthVenture™ facilitator.  “This program helps entrepreneurs think more strategically and critically about all aspects of their companies, focusing not on a startup business plan, but on a strategic growth plan for expanding the business and increasing revenue and profitability.”

During the program, entrepreneurs will learn to structure their business for better efficiency, realign strategic goals with the critical functions of the business, outline specific steps to achieve their business' vision and goals, and explore opportunities for sustainable growth.  FastTrac® combines non-traditional, experiential learning with hands-on coaching sessions. Opportunities to network and learn from peers as well as the facilitator, business coach, and guest speakers – seasoned entrepreneurs and professionals who work with entrepreneurs – are a key part of the experience.

FastTrac® GrowthVenture™ sessions will be held at the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. September 24 through December 4.  The program fee is $895. To register, visit http://www.fasttrac.org/.  For more information, contact the Beyster Institute at (858) 822-6012 or dsherman@beysterinstitute.ucsd.edu.

FastTrac® is a comprehensive family of workshops and programs that help entrepreneurs hone the skills they need to create, manage and grow successful businesses.  More than 200,000 entrepreneurs have participated in FastTrac®, which is a program of the Kansas City-based Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the largest organization in the nation solely focused on entrepreneurial success at all levels.

The Beyster Institute serves as the key center for entrepreneurial thought and activity at the Rady School and is the only such university-based center to integrate both employee ownership and entrepreneurship.   More information is available at www.beysterinstitute.ucsd.edu.
