About Us
VISION Our vision is a society that encourages, supports and values entrepreneurship and employee ownership as the most fair and effective approaches to enterprise development and to building high performing organizations, ensuring economic vitality and enhancing community well-being.
WHO WE ARE The Beyster Institute is dedicated to advancing the use of entrepreneurship and employee ownership nationally and internationally, in both the public and private sectors, as a way to build high performing enterprises and improve corporate performance.
The Institute is part of the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego, serving as its key center for entrepreneurial thought and activity. It is the only such university-based center to integrate both employee ownership and entrepreneurship.
WHAT WE DO The Institute encourages entrepreneurship by identifying the needs of growth entrepreneurs and networking them with the resources that they need to prosper. We provide training, consulting, education and policy advocacy and research that enable high potential owners and managers to successfully expand their companies. This stimulates economic growth in local communities and international regions.
By providing practical information and assistance to help organizations implement and sustain equity-based compensation and broad-based participation programs, we work to enhance economic and social development through broader ownership and involvement in the free enterprise system. Each year, Institute staff meets with hundreds of entrepreneurs and executives to help them explore strategies for recruiting, retaining, and motivating exceptional people. Through our one-on-one consulting, we help our clients evaluate how to use equity compensation to meet their goals. Through our workshops, conferences, and products, we help key executives better understand the details of employee ownership. Globally, we help governments and private organizations use employee ownership as an effective social and economic strategy to get more capital into the hands of many.
